Author L. Nuchell was born Lisa Nuchell Spivey. Except for a brief period in Nashville, TN, L. Nuchell has spent her entire life in Jackson, TN.  A product of the East Jackson community, she attended Parkview Elementary School, Jackson Jr. High School and Jackson Central-Merry High School.

She planned to attend college away from home, until an academic scholarship led her to Lambuth College (now University).  While at Lambuth, she was a member of the Black Student Union, a peer advisor, associate chief justice of the Student Government Association, and a resident assistant.  L. Nuchell also joined the first and greatest sorority for African-American women—Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (Omicron Omicron Chapter).  She graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in accounting.

After graduation, L. Nuchell joined the staff of Lambuth University as Director of Multicultural Affairs and Assistant Director of Housing.  In 1995, she began working on her masters degree at the University of Tennessee.  She graduated in 1997 with a Master of Business Administration degree.

Now armed with two business degrees, the author made the transition from higher education to governmental accounting in 1998.  She is currently an auditor for a state agency.

L. Nuchell enjoys reading, working in the ministries at her church, and spending time with her family, especially her niece, Allison McKenzie and her god-children, Taylor Ranae and Jonathan Trey.
