Author L. Nuchell was born Lisa Nuchell Spivey. Except for a brief period in Nashville, TN, L. Nuchell has spent her entire life in Jackson, TN. A product of the East Jackson community, she attended Parkview Elementary School, Jackson Jr. High School and Jackson Central-Merry High School. She planned to attend college away from home, until an academic scholarship led her to Lambuth College (now University). While at Lambuth, she was a member of the Black Student Union, a peer advisor, associate chief justice of the Student Government Association, and a resident assistant. L. Nuchell also joined the first and greatest sorority for African-American women—Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (Omicron Omicron Chapter). She graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in accounting.
Now armed with two business degrees, the author made the transition from higher education to governmental accounting in 1998. She is currently an auditor for a state agency. L. Nuchell enjoys reading, working in the ministries at her church, and spending time with her family, especially her niece, Allison McKenzie and her god-children, Taylor Ranae and Jonathan Trey. |
